The International Padel Federation (FIP), established on July 12, 1991, in Madrid by representatives from Argentina, Spain, and Uruguay, serves as the only global governing body for the sport of Padel. Dedicated to promoting Padel worldwide, the FIP organizes prestigious events such as the World and Continental Championships for teams and pairs across professional, senior, and junior levels. In 2022, the FIP partnered with Qatar Sports Investments to launch the Premier Padel circuit, further elevating the sport’s professional landscape. With over 25 million active players in more than 90 countries as of 2023, the FIP continues to foster the growth and development of Padel at all levels and ages, aiming to make it an Olympic sport.

The governing body for Padel in Ireland is the Padel Federation of Ireland (PFI), chaired by Naomi Nicholl. Established to promote and develop the sport of Padel across the country, recognized by the International Padel Federation (FIP) as the only official authority for padel in Ireland.
The PFI organises national competitions, sets standards for coaching and facilities, and represents Ireland in international padel events. Through partnerships with clubs and local communities, the PFI works to grow participation at all levels and supports both recreational and competitive players. Its mission includes increasing padel's visibility and making the sport more accessible throughout Ireland.
The Padel Federation of Ireland (PFI) is the official body responsible for selecting teams to represent Ireland in ongoing international competitions, including in the Olympic Games if Padel is introduced as an Olympic sport in 2028.
